There are many ways to optimize your Facebook page so it’s more presentable to Facebook users and more likely to be picked up by Facebook’s algorithm — but to start, here are the basics to get you when it comes to your Facebook page:
Choosing the right name and username
Upon creating your Facebook Page, you’re prompted to enter a name that will act as the title for your page.
The name you select should be the name you are professionally known as — so if you release your music under a stage name or pseudonym, or are a part of a band, use that title for your Page name.
After establishing your Page name, you can then choose an @ username that will be displayed below your Page name.
The purpose of your username is to help Facebook users find your Page. It also acts as your public domain name on Facebook when linking out externally from other social media platforms or search engines — so snag a username as close to your Page name as possible.
Branding your Page
Now that you have secured your Page name and username, you are ready to finish setting up your page.
When someone comes across your Facebook page for the first time, their first impression of you will be dictated by how your profile is branded.
Visually, the branding on your Facebook Page comes down to two components — your profile photo and your cover photo.
Your Page’s profile picture could potentially be the first image that a Facebook user will see of you when coming across one of your posts or ads.
Whether you choose a photo of yourself or a logo, your profile photo should be the most eye-catching photo or image you have that also best represents how you want to be seen by the public.
Since your profile photo will be displayed in a circle or a square depending on the device it’s being viewed on, the optimal size for your Page’s profile photos is 360 x 360 pixels with the minimum size being 180 x 180 pixels, according to Facebook.
When someone visits your Facebook page, most of their screen will be taken up by your cover photo. This is why it’s so important to take advantage of this prime screen real estate with a striking photo, a logo, some text — or all of the above!
Your cover photo should work in synergy with your profile photo by using the same tones and colors as your profile photo.
On computers and larger screens, your cover photo will be shown at 820 pixels wide by 312 pixels tall, and 640 pixels wide by 360 pixels tall on smartphone devices.
Anything between those dimensions is optimal for your cover photo, however, your cover photo must meet Facebook’s minimum size requirement which is set at 400 pixels wide and 150 pixels tall.
If you are using a logo for your profile pictures and/or cover photo, Facebook recommends using a PNG file to get the clearest results possible.

Instead of viewing the ‘About’ section on your Facebook Page as a Wikipedia page all about you, it should serve as a landing page for all of your social media links and ways to contact you.
What you put in your Page bio is now posted under your Page name and profile photo when someone searches for your name as well as on your main Facebook homepage — so the shorter your bio is, the better.
Along with your bio, the ‘About’ section on your page is also where you can link all of your other social platforms including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and your website.

After setting up your account, you can turn on notifications so you are notified when someone likes your page or engages with your content.
However, unless you want to be bombarded with countless notifications every day, you can customize your notifications to receive them in less frequent batches.
