Acon Digital Multiply Review
Many producers tend to discount the need for a good Chorus effect.
When most DAW's come with a chorus effect pre-installed, why would you need anything else?
The Acon Digital Multiply Chorus is one of the more powerful chorus effects we've tried, and it's free, so picking it up is a no-brainer.

Multiply Features
Acon Digital Multiply is a free and versatile chorus effect with a unique twist.
Each simulated voice is processed with a phase randomizing filter so that unpleasant comb filter effects are avoided.
The effect can be used to simulate the effect of several performers playing the same tones simultaneously.
You can also use it to widen the spatial image or to create special effects for sound design.
Multiply can simulate up to 6 additional voices and both the pitch and the loudness of the voices can be modulated.

Here's what you get with the Acon Digital Multiply:
Dry & Wet Controls
Every plugin brand handles dry & wet controls slightly different.
With Acon Multiply you’ll get one fader for the dry signal and another one for the wet.
Linking them via the lock icon in the middle allows you to adjust the output volume without changing the overall effect balance.
Frequency Modulation
Below the volume faders you’ll find controls for the frequency modulation.
“Depth” controls how much the source will be de-tuned and “Rate” controls how fast the de-tuning happens.
The frequency modulation section makes it possible to create modulated chorus effects that can widen the spatial image.
If you worked with modulation effects before you’re probably already set, to start working with the Acon digital multiply.
Amplitude Modulation
The amplitude modulation works just like the frequency modulation section.
Instead of the tune however, it modulates the volume.
Going for a high rate allows you to create a tremolo like effect..
TIP: The Pitch and Loudness of the voices can be modulated by the frequency and amplitude modulation sections. Use this to create unique effects for sound design.
Equalizer
The final section of the plugin is a very nice EQ
It comes with 5 bands & Q-controls .
In addition to the EQ, the Acon Digital Multiply also has a filter section.
You get a low cut, low shelf, high shelf and high cut as well as a band pass filter shape.
Sure, lots of other VST's have output filters, but adding a whole EQ section shows that Acon have put in thought behind their workflow.
This allows you to really shape the curve in some interesting ways.
Global Settings
Multiply works with up to 6 voices.
The amount of voices can simply be adjusted via the “Voice count” control.
Right next to it is the “Stereo spread”, which can set the output signal from fully mono, to fully stereo.
You also get an integrated pre-delay section, that can be adjusted to 500ms.
The pre-delay section makes it possible to create modulated and diffuse echo effects.
We'll show this more in-depth in our examples.
In general, Multiply is a very well assembled plugin.
For a free device, you will not find anything that's as powerful and versatile as Multiply, by Acon Digital.
How Does It Sound?
The Acon Digital Multiply is great for creating space and warmth for your sounds.
Combined with the phase randomizing filter, so that unpleasant sounds aren't an issue, Multiply is one of our favorite Chorus effects.
Along with Digital Multiply, Acon have provided a few factory presets too. They're a little on the thin side, including only 10 – but are good starting blocks to build off.
Here are our favorites:
